It is reported that the Panama registered with callsign HO4251 Anchor Handling Tug Supply Vessel GOLFO DE BENGALA has been sold to Alang breakers. The vessel is owned by Star Matrix Ltd., Mumbai (India) and managed by Prayati Shipping Pvt Ltd., Mumbai. The GOLFO DE BENGALA is the former SMIT-LLOYD 116 from Smit-Lloyd, Rotterdam.
The AHTS was built in 1976 by Scheepswerf De Waal B.V., Zaltbommel, The Netherlands with yard number 709/727. She has a length of 63,89 mtrs, a beam of 13.29 mtrs and a depth of 5.10 mtrs. The two Werkspoor TM410 main engines develop an output of 7.500 bhp with a bollard pull of 100 tons and a free sailing speed of 14 knots. She has a grt of 1,356 tons and dwt of 1,046 tons and is classed American Bureau of Shipping.
In 1996 she was handed over to Seacor Marine Inc., Morgan City. In 1889 sold to Boluda Offshore, Valencia and renamed VB GOLFO DE BENGALA, later sold to India and renamed GOLFO DE BENGALA. (Sales report by Vesseltracker). A short history:
The SMIT-LLOYD 116 was built in 1976 with yard number 709/727 by shipyard "De Waal" at Zaltbommel (The Netherlands). She was launched in March of that year. She was christened by mrs. Smit-Wegman.
On May 17th the SMIT-LLOYD 116 was delivered to the owner, Smit-Lloyd BV at Rotterdam, The Netherlands. On May 31st she was taken in service.
In 1993 the SMIT-LLOYD 116 was transferred to Smit International Singapore at Singapore.
In 1994 she was transferred to Smit International BV. Operator and manager became Smit Singapore at Singapore. She was registered under Bahamian flag.
In 1996 the SMIT-LLOYD was handed over to Seacor-Smit Inc., Morgan City, Louisiana, USA.
In 1998 she was transferred to Seacor Holdings (USA). Operator en manager were Seacor Marine Asia, Singapore.
In August 1998 the operator became the Boluda Group, Valencia (Spain), and the owner Boluda International, Valencia. In September she was re-christened in VB GOLFO DE BENGALA and registered under Spanish flag. Her home town was Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
In 1999 the VB GOLFO DE BENGALA was sold to the Boluda Group (Spain).
In 2005 she was registered under Panamanian flag; her home port became Panama.
In 2011 the VB GOLFO DE BENGALA was transferred to Boluda International (Spain). Her mome port remained Panama. Her call sign became HO4251.
In 2011 she was sold to Star Matrix Ltd. in Hong Kong, per address Prima Group, Hong Kong.
In 2012 she moved to Star Matrix Ltd, Mumbai, India. Manager became Prayati Shipping Pvt Ltd., Mumbai. Her flag is Panama and she was re-christened in GOLFO DE BENGALA.
In 2015 the GOLFO DE BENGALA was sold to breakers in Alang (India).
