As every year the National Dutch Towage Museum did her utmost to provide again for a succesful nautical day on May 21st 2016 in Maassluis. The supervision of this event is in the hands of the "Foundation Tugboat Harbour Maassluis." (SSM).In May the traditional Nautical Day is being organized by the maritime foundations in Maassluis, united in the SSM.On this day the visitor will enjoy a unique towing and tugboat scene. The Europort exhibition is being organized once per 2 years in the month November in the AHOY complex at Rotterdam, the next being in 2017. This show is one of the largest fairs of the maritime industry. The Foundation Tug Harbour Maassluis, in which the National Towage Museum takes part, is one of the participants of the fair. In 2016 Open Monuments Day (OMD) took place on September 10th and 11th 2016. On Open Monuments Day a number of monuments in Maassluis, one of which is the building of the National Dutch Towage Museum, open to the public. This small but very beautiful former old town hall of Maassluis built in 1676, pittoresque situated in the corner of the basin of the inner harbour, deserves without doubt the title "paramount town determining monument". This year 2016 the 37th Furieade Festival will take place on October 1st. This year the central theme is the 100 year old seagoing steam tug boat FURIE. The first shows start on Friday, september 30th.\r\nThe so called Furieade festival is a yearly returning happening in the first week of October in Maassluis.
