POLEN (former SMIT POLEN) LEFT MAASSLUIS.\r\n
After a maintenance period at the De Haas Shipyard the harbour/coastal tug POLEN left the port of Maassluis bound for the Lekhaven in Rotterdam.
On Sunday 23 March the tug Polen (Imo 8521701) departed from the Rotterdam – Lekhaven on her way to Ghana. The tug was sold on march 14, 2014 to Black Star Co. Ltd – Marshall Islands. She will make a bunker call in Las Palmas on the Canarias Islands.
The POLEN was the last Smit tug operating in the port of Rotterdam named after a country.The tug is the Former tug Smit Polen from Smit Harbour Towage – Rotterdam. The tug is built by Tille Scheepsbouw B.V. – Kootstertille under yard number 251. She has a length of 28,61 mtrs, a beam of 9,32 mtrs and a depth of 4.20 mtrs. The two Stork-Werkspoor diesel engines develop a total output of 2,400 hp. The tug has a grt of 236 tons and a dwt of 120 tons and is classed Bureau Veritas.
