In an earlier issue we have reported the sinking of the 1970 built tugboat YAL in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. It was later refloated again. Now we have to report the demolition of the same tug. As we can see in the picture the dismantling of the tug YAL (ex NOORDZEE 1986; SMIT NOORDZEE 1988; DAFI 1993) has begun. The wheelhouse with the top accommodation has been removed. It is hard to notice that again a tug of the famous towing company Smit International has been demolished. Last week we already have reported the beaching, at Gadani, of the SMIT ROTTERDAM. The only tangible proof in the future of what remains are the tugs HUDSON (without machine), ELBE and her sister SEAWOLF (former CLYDE). The NOORDZEE, built in 1970, was sold in 1988 to Iran Marine Services and renamed DAFI. In 1993 renamed YAL (Photo via Vincent de Jong).
